Riley's Pro Trowel Plastering Contractors Ltd was established in Plymouth and has spent over fifteen years building a reputation across Devon and Cornwall for work that is done correctly. Not quickly, not cheaply. Correctly.
The business started with traditional plastering and expanded into the areas where genuine skill is demanded: heritage rendering, lime work, breathable render systems, Venetian plastering, and micro cement. These are not bolt-on services. They are the core of what Riley's does because they are the work that requires real knowledge of how buildings behave, and the patience to do them properly.
Every member of the team understands the difference between lime and cement, between breathable and non-breathable, between a substrate that is ready and one that needs more time. That knowledge is the foundation of every project.
Our Approach
How We Work
Assess First
Every project starts with a site visit. We look at the building: its age, its substrate, its moisture behaviour, its history. We do not quote blind and we do not start work before we understand what we are working with.
Specify Correctly
The specification matters as much as the application. The wrong material on the wrong substrate causes damage. We specify the correct lime grade, aggregate, system, and coat structure for each individual building.
No Shortcuts
Lime render needs time to cure between coats. Surface preparation cannot be rushed. We do not compress programmes to win price competitions. The work takes as long as it takes to do it correctly.
Conservation Familiar
Listed building work is routine for Riley's. We understand what conservation officers expect, how to approach listed building consent applications, and how to deliver work that satisfies both the planning authority and the client.
Communication
We keep clients informed throughout, at the assessment, at specification, during the work, and on completion. There are no surprises on a Riley's project. If something changes, we communicate immediately.
Fully Insured
Riley's Pro Trowel carries full public liability insurance. All operatives are covered. For listed buildings and heritage work, insurance documentation is available on request.

Devon, Cornwall & Plymouth
Based at 61 Longstone Avenue, Plymouth, Riley's operates across the whole of Devon and Cornwall. The South West has an unusually rich stock of heritage buildings: the cob construction of rural Devon, the granite and slate of Cornwall, the Georgian and Victorian townhouses of Plymouth, Exeter, Truro, and the coastal towns. All of them require the kind of specialist knowledge that Riley's has spent fifteen years developing.
We are equally comfortable on a listed farmhouse in the South Hams, a Victorian terrace in Plymouth, a holiday development on the north Cornish coast, or a commercial refurbishment in Exeter. The building type changes. The standard does not.
